Shawn is home from his 3 week deployment and he brought home some great gifts from China. This first picture is of a scroll made of bambo and handpainted. Every symbol on the scroll means blessing. It's so beautiful. He bought it from a church near Hong Kong.
This picture is of a name stamp for Riley. The stamp itself is made from stone. On top is a carving of a rat, Riley will be born in the year of the rat. Shawn said the man he bought the stamp from only had two fingers left on his right hand. That's a story Riley will one day enjoy hearing....only the thumb and pinky finger.

I love your gifts Rachael. I bought the exact same kind of name stamp when I lived in Taiwan years ago--one for me and one for Morgan. A sheep and a tiger. I really wish I'd bought more stuff--as it is our house is swamped in Africa because of all the stuff Morg bought as a teenager in Kenya. I prefer Asian stuff--it is light and simple.
Oh yeah! Congratulations on a husband returned!
That is a beautiful vase! will shawn be home for a while now or is he leaving again before riley makes his appearence?
Hey-I just realized that Riley will be a rat just like me!!He is just going to be a great kid-all rats are:):) Those look like really cool gifts. You will have a nice collection of Asian things before you leave Japan!!
