Riley's most recent love is razzing (puckering his lips and blowing air). Oh, he loves it!! Him and Caleb will raz back and forth at each other. Why is it that babies learn to do this right at the age when they begin to eat solids??? It just doesn't make any sense!! I can't get through a feeding without being covered with applesauce or pears...and now that Riley is starting his "orange vegetables" (carrots and sweet potatoes) I need to start wearing the bib instead of putting it on him.

New Loves
Riley grows everyday and everyday he learns that he has new loves. As the little brother of Caleb, it's no surprise that he would love cars. He really likes playing with Caleb's monster trucks...which Caleb isn't sure that he likes sharing.

Playdate
Caleb had a playdate with little Synclair today. These two act like an old married couple. He gets her whatever she wants, she demands lots and they like to kiss....okay, so maybe like newlyweds! They are so cute together. Caleb is so willing to share with her and she is so willing to take it all. When it was time for Synclair to go home, she chased Caleb around the house saying, "kissy, kissy" and of course Caleb loved it!!! He ran from her just long enough to keep her interested and then he laid a big, lingering kiss on her. Too cute!!
Riley doesn't need playdates or girls!!! He can keep himself occupied! He loves playing with this little cloth book my mom sent him. It makes paper crackling sounds. "Thanks Grandma"

Potluck Dinner
Over the weekend we had a potluck dinner at our Captain's house. The spouses typically get together several times while the ship is underway. Its a great way to handle deployments. We have so much fun, but this potluck was just a bit more fun than usual. Our new ship's captain has three boys, 7,9,and 10 years old. Caleb was so excited to be with them. And the boys were very patient with Caleb. There were other boys too, from new families, so I didn't spend much time with him, other than potty breaks, which was nice because I really needed the break. It was also a nice time catching up with the other moms.

Caught in the rain
Last night, we went to see Wall-E again at the movie theater. It was a beautiful evening, so we decided to walk. When we got out of the movie and started walking home, the sky opened and released about 2 inches of rain. Caleb decided to crawl into the bottom of the stroller because he didn't want to get wet. I don't know how he fits into that basket, but he did. I'm in flip flops, my feet are slipping the whole way, I can't see anything in front of me because the rain is coming down so hard, the wind is blowing, and Caleb is yelling at me that he has a "boo boo" that he got yesterday....which was none existent to begin with....is hurting now because the wind is hitting it. Did I have an umbrella?? No! But I had extra clothes for Caleb and Riley, I had several bottles, about 2 dozen diapers, and a small grocery store in my diaper bag. All I could do was laugh. I laughed the whole way home. I didn't run, I didn't stop in an overpass, I didn't wait it out in the store, I just walked and laughed. I felt like I was in a comedy and I was the main character. The one thing I can say about being a mom is that there is never a dull moment. I'm never bored and I'm never without a good laugh.
Here's Caleb in the basket.
Riley didn't even know that it had rained. He was asleep and didn't wake up till we got home and the light woke him. There wasn't a drop of water on him.
As far as the movie, I think Caleb liked it better the second time around. He was so loud in the theater yelling for "Wall-Wee". It was too cute. I think Wall-E is his all time favorite movie. We will definitely be adding it to our collection when it comes out on DVD.

Pool Party Fun
We went to a pool party yesterday. Our little friend, Mia turned 5 years old. Caleb had so much fun playing with his friends and being in the pool. He got a bit fussy at the end, but he was tired and ready for a nap.
Caleb is swimming! Or so he thinks...
Happy Birthday Mia!
Yummy! Cake inside of a cone. What an awesome idea!
No one can resist strawberry icing

Parsley killers
Shawn and I planted parsley in our front yard flowerbed and it did wonderfully. We've been using it all summer, but it's existence has been eaten. In less than a day, these caterpillars came along and ate everything. By the end of the day, the plant was eaten down to the ground and the caterpillars were gone!!! Caleb was devastated when they were gone, he thought he'd gotten a new pet! Nasty little pests, not pets!!

Gone blonde
I've gone blonde! Again.
For those of you who have known me forever, the blonde won't be such a shock to see. But it has been several years since I've been blonde and I'm still getting use to seeing it in the mirror again, but I love it. I've missed being blonde. Anyway, Caleb and I were playing with the camera this morning and I thought everyone would enjoy a glimpse of me with no make-up on, just out of bed. Not too bad for 32 years old...I don't think. Of course, there are no close ups for you to see any sagging or wrinkles under my eyes. It's amazing how many wrinkles spring to your face with each additional child you have and lets not forget the gray hairs that come too. What a blessing to have the technology of hair color and make-up.
