Parsley killers

Shawn and I planted parsley in our front yard flowerbed and it did wonderfully. We've been using it all summer, but it's existence has been eaten. In less than a day, these caterpillars came along and ate everything. By the end of the day, the plant was eaten down to the ground and the caterpillars were gone!!! Caleb was devastated when they were gone, he thought he'd gotten a new pet! Nasty little pests, not pets!!

That is awful! Anything you can do in the future to keep the pests away? Sorry.

Those are (hopefully)descendents of the ones that I raised here in my classroom. Please don't kill them! (Plant more parsley)They "grow up" to be monarch butterflies! They will eat milkweed (their preferred diet). Look around for the chrysalis'--Caleb may get to see a butterfly come out! http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tm/monarch/AboutWinter.html
